Western Sydney

Our client, understands the powerful role healthy animals play in making lives better. This global leader in premium branded animal health and veterinary pharmaceuticals is currently looking for a Scientific Services Manager to join their Research and Development Team in regional Western Sydney.

The Scientific Services Manager will be leading the farming operations and animal management requirements of a technical research production facility with global outcomes. You are truly passionate about animal health. You are integral within a team environment and have progressive communication skills to lead with. You embrace change, and can motivate your team to accept change. You are phenomenal at organizing staff and physical resources whilst maintaining extremely high work safe standards across the site. You embrace working closely with veterinarians and animal ethics in managing animal patients for the purpose of conducting scientific research. You will be hands on in the execution of animal handling and husbandry procedures, providing leadership, support and training to your team.

As the Scientific Services Manager, you will be part of the leadership team and your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Manage day to day operations of an agricultural research and development facility working with both livestock and companion animals (including cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, dogs and cats)
  • Leading a small team (6-10) for the purpose of scientific research
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the animal husbandry requirements are completed to all relevant standards
  • Procurement of animal consumables and stock for the conduct of R&D trials
  • Ensure Animal Welfare compliance, GXP Quality Compliance, Standard Operating Procedure and Study Protocols are fully complied with and supported
  • Prepare and implement budgets and business planning

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Formal Tertiary education in Animal/Agricultural Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years in team leadership and related industry experience to applied animal science (Veterinary, Vet Nursing, commercial farming, animal research)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Forklift License and Chemical Certification highly regarded
  • Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends and after-hours emergency services support
  • Ability to travel for work up to 10% of the time locally and interstate.
