Regional APAC/SA Business Development & Licensing Director

(Note: position can be based in Sydney, Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo or Shanghai/Beijing or elsewhere in APAC region)

We are currently working in collaboration with our client, a global leader in Animal Health pharmaceuticals, to fill this fantastic, challenging and rewarding position – APAC/SA Regional Business Development & Licensing Director.

As the successful candidate, you will provide business development leadership, expertise, and support to the Animal Health senior leadership team by identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and executing third-party business arrangements that are aligned with both the operational and strategic objectives or this global leader.  As part of this responsibility, you will actively screening the animal health industry and related sectors for attractive project opportunities in various categories, including vaccines, pharmaceuticals, and other technologies to enhance the health of animals via acquisitions, licenses, distribution arrangements, joint ventures and other business collaborations. The role will provide you with significant opportunity to collaborate within the business at the highest global levels, where you will report to the Vice President, Global Business Development and Licensing establish and work closely with the VP for Asia Pacific. You will effortlessly be able to facilitate and maintain a strong network with potential partners, you'll actively seek contacts in the related industry sectors, and present this Animal Health Business as a preferred partner. You will be responsible for organising and managing cross-functional project teams to effectively analyse all aspects of the various opportunities, including stakeholders from the Asia Pacific & South Africa management team, Global Marketing, Finance, Legal, Manufacturing, R&D, Safety & Environment, etc

You Key Accountabilities:

  • You will identify and manage the opportunities to evaluate and potentially license or acquire technologies and products aligned with the organisation's strategic priorities
  • You will Negotiate and collaborate to support new product development by Animal Health Business
  • You will evaluate the third-party technology opportunities in close contact with counterparts from Research & Development, commercial and marketing groups, and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Formalise the agreements on advice from legal counsel
  • You will post-transactional oversight of ongoing contractual obligations and management of partner relations.

Qualifications and Experience that we require you to have:

  • You will have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant animal health industry experience. We may consider candidates with human pharmaceutical experience if they possess a strong science / medical background
  • Additionally, we really need you to have an advanced scientific degree or life sciences background and expertise.
  • You will be excellent leader with strong relationship-building skills.
  • You are an expert time manager and have extensively worked with cross-functional teams, managing stakeholders and senior leaders in the business.
  • Familiarity with contract law and intellectual property law is preferred.

This role is open to candidates who are preferably based in Sydney. However, our client is open to considering candidates preferably based/living in Singapore, Thailand, Japan or China who have demonstrated track record and meet criteria listed above. Other APAC locations can also be considered.
