About the Role
The Strategic Account Manager will play a pivotal role in maximising growth within key retail and online accounts across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll bring your expertise in FMCG, grocery, or consumer health to develop and execute strategic account plans that meet customer needs and deliver mutual success. With a focus on retail and e-commerce channels, you will work collaboratively to achieve sales targets, drive revenue growth, and strengthen relationships with key partners, ensuring the business stays ahead of market trends and competitor activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management:

    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key retail and e-commerce accounts, as well as online partners, at multiple levels within the organisation.
    • Understand customer needs, market dynamics, and category trends to provide value-added solutions and achieve mutual growth.
    • Serve as the primary contact for key accounts, while broadening relationships with marketing teams, category managers, and senior decision-makers.
  • Strategic Planning:

    • Develop and implement strategic account plans that align with customer and company objectives, including annual joint business planning with key accounts.
    • Monitor consumer behaviour, market trends, and competitive activities to identify opportunities for growth and potential risks.
    • Partner with internal teams to create tailored proposals and sales initiatives, including promotions, new product launches, and tailored marketing activities.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth:

    • Drive revenue growth within key accounts through upselling, cross-selling, and identifying new business opportunities.
    • Leverage insights from data analysis to target high-value opportunities and optimise sales performance.
    • Negotiate contracts and terms of trade to meet or exceed revenue targets, conducting regular reviews to track progress.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with marketing, finance, and sales teams to ensure alignment on strategic priorities and resource allocation.
    • Facilitate open communication between clients and internal teams, ensuring that account objectives are met and any issues are promptly addressed.
    • Gather and act on feedback from key accounts, using insights to continuously refine product offerings and sales strategies.
  • Reporting and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate records of account activities and use CRM tools to track sales progress and inform business strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations, addressing any service or product issues as required.
    • Stay up-to-date with competitor activities and make recommendations to strengthen market positioning.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of Key Account Management experience in the FMCG, grocery, or consumer health sectors.
  • A strong background in driving sales growth and managing key accounts in a B2B environment.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and a good understanding of trade terms and financial metrics.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities with a results-driven approach to achieving medium- and long-term goals.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills, with an ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
